International Dance Day
International Dance Day is celebrated annually on April 29th . Commemorating the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, the father of modern ballet, this day was first founded in 1982 by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), in collaboration with UNESCO Performing Arts, with an idea to celebrate the beauty and diversity of dance and recognise its ability to transcend cultural barriers and bring people together. Since then, it has evolved into a worldwide celebration, with dance communities, schools, companies, and organizations around the world hosting events. These events usually involve performances, workshops, dance festivals, lectures, and other activities that aim to promote awareness of dance as an art form and its cultural importance.
